Yad (Arm)
Wood, ink, gold leaf, pigment, and paper

They insist that it cannot be touched. Hands are not clean enough for the task. Furthermore, the very substance of the Torah scroll is ever so delicate. For this reason the reader clasps the intermediary, the yad. This hand marks the reader's place and bridges the gap between the impure and the sacred. Yet, the yad of Yahweh reached down and found favor in a one and only Son; a hand-picked mediator. His sacred palms were wounded and remain thus pierced to remind us of the sacrifice that allows us to draw near. So why do you stand far off? Take hold of the true arbiter, for you have been made clean. You are fit to stand before the King.

  1. This is really a beautiful physical picture of Jesus and what he means for his people. Sometimes the Gospel might not strike us the way that it should. But as people who are artists, writers, scientists; it is our duty to do just this and create new ways of proclaiming the victory of Christ. This is a really cool way to sing to the Lord a new song.
